MY JOURNEY IN HEALTH AND WELLNESS

...began over 30 years ago, sparked by a deep belief that healthcare could—and should—be better. As a registered nurse, I saw firsthand what wasn’t working and set out to make a change. For over two decades, I fought for strategic improvements in health systems and processes, always with one goal in mind: better outcomes for patients.

At the age of 41, despite the outward picture of my life going very well, my relationships and health were suffering. I was experiencing anxiety, weight gain, fatigue, menstrual and gut irregularities, brain fog, and memory issues. I had an overwhelming sense that something was off, despite being told by conventional physicians they could see nothing wrong, my labs were “normal”, and I probably needed to work harder to manage my stress. Feeling unheard and frustrated, I signed up for a deep-dive wellness weekend at a popular “ranch” with the hope of getting some answers (or at least someone to listen to me). I got both.

Turns out, I wasn’t fine. Those labs that I was told were normal were clues in the hands of the right practitioner. Extensive health screening and comprehensive lab testing revealed hormone levels consistent with menopause—10 years earlier than most, very low cortisol levels—AKA adrenal exhaustion, and SIBO—a bacterial imbalance in the gut. I had my answers and a detailed plan to tackle the issues. I had discovered the power of root-cause medicine, where “normal” does not equal optimal.

Over time, I came to see that if we really want to change health outcomes, we have to start at the individual level—helping people stay well (proactive), not waiting on a sick-care system to intervene (reactive). Today, I apply my years of clinical expertise and personal experience, with advanced certification in Functional Medicine and Nutrition, to guide individuals toward sustainable health through the most powerful tools we have—our daily choices.
